All of us are different with our own set make up of brain chemistry, genetics and life experiences but we all experience the debilitating crushing feelings of nervousness and pure panic from time to time. I’m willing to bet even James Bond knows what it feels like!

The sweaty clammy hands, your heart pounding hard against your chest as if to explode, the racing thoughts, nausea and reign of pure terror.

Now, there are many ways to go about combating anxiety or dealing with it in an emotionally healthy way which we won’t get into about because that would be off topic. But since you are already on this site, you know that Kratom is very useful when it comes to relaxation and anxiety relief.

But there is one strain in particular that has stood out from the rest when it comes to anxiety… Red Sumatra Kratom.

What is Sumatra Kratom?

Sumatran Kratom strains are rare strains that can only be found on the island of Sumatra, one of the “Sunda Islands” of western Indonesia in Southeast Asia, home to the native Sundanese people.

What About Sundanese Kratom?

You will also find Sundanese Kratom strains originating from these islands but since Sumatra is technically it’s own island, it has it’s own Kratom strains, with alkaloid profiles unique to the soil and other growing conditions of that island.

There are many Indonesian Kratom strains originating from this part of the world including Borneo Kratom, Hulu Kapuas Kratom and even Horn Kratom.

What is Red Sumatra Kratom?

As for Sumatran Kratom strains, you’ll typically find them in yellow vein, white vein and red vein varieties and red vein Sumatra Kratom is one of my favorite in particular.

I do love red vein Kratom. However, although red Sumatra Kratom is one of the highest quality slow strains available (at least in my opinion), it will never reach the level of popularity and recognition it deserves, simply because of it’s scarcity; there isn’t enough of this strain to go around.

Where Red Sumatra Kratom Is Grown

Red Sumatra Kratom, grown on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, is becoming increasingly popular among red Kratom strains. This red vein Kratom strain is harvested when the leaves of the Mitragyna Speciosa plant (tree) have matured to a point where the veins of the leaves have turned a deep red.

How Red Sumatra Kratom is Harvested and Processed

Red Sumatra Kratom is made from leaves that are hand-picked for superior quality, at a time when the alkaloids have reached the desired potency. Once picked, these leaves are moved to an indoor facility. This facility is both temperature and light-controlled, ensuring the leaves dry properly without affecting the alkaloid profile. Once dried and moisture removed, the leaves are ground into Sumatra Kratom powder, a fine green powder made from the entire ground up Kratom leaves.

*As a different drying technique, some Kratom farmers may use sun drying for part or all of the process (weather permitting).

What Type of Strain is Red Sumatra Kratom?

Kratom is known by its strain or ‘vein’, and by the region in which it was grown. Both the strain of Kratom and where it was grown affect the unique alkaloids found in that particular Kratom strain, as well as the concentration of these alkaloids. Red Sumatra Kratom, as the name suggests, is a red Kratom strain, embodying much of the benefits and effects that any red vein strain of Kratom would have.

Red Sumatra Kratom Review

I first received “Red Sumatra” in a small sample bag along with all the other Kratom strains that I had ordered from my preferred Kratom vendor.

They would always include an extra small sample bag of a strain you didn’t order along with your Kratom products as well as a beautifully hand written “Thank-You” note which always makes me feel all warm and special inside.

Anyway, I quickly tore open the small bag and decided it was time to “burn” it and see what type of aroma it gives off. I had already read great fantastic reviews about this particular strain so I was very excited to try it.

How I Took Red Sumatra to the Next Level

Kratom Potentiators

To make it as potent as possible, I took 2-3 pills of Magnesium Taurate about 45 minutes before I planned to burn this stuff.

But I didn’t stop there…

This time I wasn’t going to simply Toss n’ Wash my Kratom. No, I had a different plan.

I decided to make a Kratom tea with it, and while the tea was boiling I added about two caps of lemon juice because the acid in the lemon can help extract the alkaloids found in Kratom and make the aroma much more powerful.

For those not in the know, potentiators are a great way to enhance the effects of your dose, supercharging mitragynine and other alkaloids to produce stronger effects that last longer.

Red Sumatra Kratom Effects: A First-Hand Account of What to Expect

It had been maybe half an hour since I had burned this Sumantran Kratom when I found myself outside with my friends heading over to a night club.

Now I usually won’t recommend using a “Slow” strain when going out to a place such as a night club where you actually need high amounts of energy if you want to bounce around the walls and be the life of the party.

But… red Sumatra was different.

Sure, it didn’t provide any additional energy. But it felt like a nice comfortable blanket had fallen over my head and my heart rate surprisingly slowed down.

My thoughts were clearer and had completely slowed down. I felt pretty damn good.

I was fully present and there in the “now”, fully immersed in what was going on. It didn’t have a sort of “dirty” aroma that can come from burning slow strains.

Usually slow strains are notorious for their overwhelming relaxation accompanied by the sluggish feeling.

There was no sluggish feeling with this strain. Nope! Nada.

Everything just seemed so much clearer and the annoying little voice in my head had completely slowed down which allowed me to fully take in my present experience one moment at a time.

I couldn’t get anxious even if I tried. Even when certain anxious thoughts floated by, they didn’t register the same with my brain or induce any feeling of fear.  It was almost as if fear was a foreign language which I no longer knew how to speak.

This was the closest experience I could ever get to being and feeling “fearless”.

I’m sure I don’t need to mention that I had a pretty good time that night…

Red Sumatra Kratom Dosage

If you are going to make a tea with it like I did there, then I’d recommend you use 5-7 grams for optimal results.

If you are going the traditional route which is the Toss n’ Wash method, then you’d treat it the same as any strain and start off with 2 grams then add more after an hour if it’s necessary, as outlined in this guide. This is assuming you have never tried this strain before and haven’t found the “sweet spot” that works for you yet. If you already have a “sweet spot” for other slow strains, say 4 grams, go with that for red Sumatra Kratom.

Low Dose of Red Sumatra Kratom

At lower doses, red vein Kratom strains are stimulating and uplifting with slight euphoria, improved mood, increased focus and more energy.

Moderate Dose of Red Sumatra Kratom

At moderate doses, users start to notice enhanced stress relief, relaxing effects, pain relief, and calming effects keeping you relaxed with a bit of euphoria added in.

Higher Doses of Red Sumatra Kratom Powder

At higher doses, stimulating effects are replaced with sedating effects. Users also report strong pain relief, euphoria, improved ability to fall asleep, and a very calming effect.

• You can add lemon to your tea while it’s still boiling to make the strain much stronger. This applies for any Kratom strain, not just red Sumatra.

• Magnesium Taurate is a great supplement to have on hand to enhance the anxiety relief/relaxation benefits of Kratom.

• Make sure you never burn the same strain more than once a week to avoid tolerance build up.
